Sandbank Cemetery

100S 125E
Cicero Twp., Tipton Co., Indiana

There is no need to relate the history of ownership of the land this cemetery is located upon (its rather boring). Suffice it to say that the ownership has passed through many of the families interred here.

It is interesting to note that the northern boundary of the west half of the cemetery is the southern boundary of the Big Miami Reserve created in 1818 at St Mary's, Ohio.

Rows are numbered west to east and stones south to north. Some rows are rather crooked. There are quit a few "loose" stones. Some temporary metal markers are long gone. Gae and I did the best we could reading the cemetery. It is in need of a lot of work.

Problems with Sandbank

The D.A.R. records Sarah K. Dellinger daughter of Levi and Catharine dying in 1863. Censuses show Levi and his wife living in Harrison Twp., Wayne Co. up to 1880. I believe this is really Daughter Cauldwell Row 11, Stone 11.

Julia A. (Tomlinson) Tinder b. 1865 d. 10 Jul 1928, is buried with her husband, William, in Goar Cemetery.

I can not find a stone for Norma Faith Thomas, 4th child mentioned in Malinda Thomas/Wilburn's obituary.

Although she has a small stone here, Susan (Hobbs) Scott b. 1865 d. 24 Oct 1936, is buried with her husband George W. Scott in Elwood City Cemetery Lot 896 N 1/2 Park Addition.
